Local Teen represented USA at IAAF World Youth Track Championships

San Lorenzo Valley High school student Anna Maxwell has had an action-packed track season this year. Maxwell just finished her junior year and has been busy making headlines after every race. To cap her season off, she placed ninth at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine on Saturday July 13th. With a time of 4 minutes, 23.75 seconds she ran the 1500 meters to set another personal best.
San Lorenzo Valley Coach Rob Collins and Santa Cruz Running Company Sales Associate couldn’t be more proud of his rising superstar. She was one of 2 Americans to represent USA and proudly wear the uniform.  “Anna is a great runner, this is something she will remember the rest of her life” said Coach Collins.
Her 2013 Season stacked up like this:

  • At CCS finals she place 1st in 1600m 4:42.57 & 1st in 3200M – 10:22
  • She won the 1600 at the State CIF Championships
  • Finished 2nd running the 1500 at youth field trials in Illinois – 425.93 this time advanced her to the IAAF World Youth Championships in Ukraine.
  • Was named by Santa Cruz Sentinel, Girls Athlete of the year.
  • Place Ninth at IAAFF World Youth Championship race wearing red, white & blue.

Congratulations Anna, your home town community is proud of you and your banner year.
